Troubleshoot - ReplayTV - Does Not Boot [PLEASE WAIT Message]
Solution
If the ReplayTV Unit fails to boot it is possible that it could simply be an anomaly that has occurred in the boot process or it could be a hardware issue. Typically this can be a temporary issue that is easily resolved.
If you are using the ethernet connection, the ReplayTV could have an issue with resolving network settings during booting.
Remember, signal flow for all Audio and Video devices is directional and should be point to point. In other words; if you are connecting the ReplayTV to a Television, the physical connection should be OUT of the ReplayTV to IN on the Television. From there you will need to select that corresponding INPUT on the Television to receive input on that line.
PRESS THE POWER BUTTON
If the unit’s LED turns on and off when the button is depressed, then skip to VERIFYING TV INPUT below. If the LED does not respond continue below.
WAIT TWO MINUTES
It can take up to two minutes for the ReplayTV unit to boot up, so be patient. During this time you should see a message indicating PLEASE WAIT on the screen. If you are using the coaxial connection or OUT TO TV on the ReplayTV, this message will not be visible until the software for the tuner is loaded.
HARD BOOT THE REPLAYTV
If the ReplayTV is recording, stop the recording and unplug the ReplayTV from AC power. Leave it disconnected for about 15 seconds; then reconnect to AC power.
CONFIRM TELEVISION POWER AND INPUT SELECTION
Verify that all necessary equipment is connected and powered up. This could be a Television / Monitor, VCR or an Audio Receiver, depending on your configuration. Confirm that those devices are connected to the correct Line input and that the selected Inputs are active.
If the connection from the ReplayTV to the Television is using Coax, remember that the correct channel is selected on the Television. The default for the ReplayTV is Channel 3. Channel 4 is the alternate channel for the RF output, so try that channel as well.
If the connection from the ReplayTV to the Television is using Composite, remember that the correct line input is selected on the Monitor.
If the connection from the ReplayTV to the Television is using Component or VGA, remember that the correct line input is selected on the Television and that the appropriate Output has been enabled in the ReplayTV software setup.
ETHERNET USERS
If the ReplayTV is connecting for Channel Guide information via the Ethernet port, then disconnect the Ethernet cable from the ReplayTV and Reboot the unit by pressing and holding the POWER button or Hard Booting the unit.
DISCONNECT ALL CABLES
Disconnect all of the cables connected to the ReplayTV unit except for the Output to identify a potential issue with cabling or other hardware. If the unit behaves normally, then reconnect each component one at a time until you recognize the problem.
CONTACT CUSTOMER CARE
