2000 / 3000 REMOTE CONTROLS
This remote control is black and is the same as the Panasonic remote control except for the label. This remote is a universal remote that will control nearly all functions of other devices. This remote typically fails on the QUICK SKIP and SELECT buttons.
What this remote will control?

4000 / 4500 REMOTE CONTROLS
This remote control is silver and has some keys that light up. The remote control is NOT a universal remote and will ONLY control TV Power and Volume.
What this remote will control?
This remote controls TV power and volume when programmed. It does NOT control VCRs, DVD Players, Cable Boxes, Satellite Boxes, AV Receivers. 5000 / 5500 REMOTE CONTROLS
This remote control is gray. The remote control is NOT a universal remote and will ONLY control TV power and volume.
What this remote will control?
This remote controls TV power and volume when programmed. It does NOT control VCRs, DVD Players, Cable Boxes, Satellite Boxes, AV Receivers. What this remote will NOT control?
It does NOT control VCRs, DVD Players, Cable Boxes, Satellite Boxes, AV Receivers.
Special note about mixing and matching 5000 and 5500 remote controls.
- A 5000 remote has a button labeled COMMERCIAL ADVANCE, it does NOT have an INPUT button.
- A 5500 remote has a button labeled INPUT, it does NOT have a COMMERCIAL ADVANCE button.
- If you have a 5000 remote (COMMERCIAL ADVANCE button) and a 5500 unit; the COMMERCIAL ADVANCE button will function as INPUT.
- If you have a 5500 remote (INPUT button) and a 5000 unit; the INPUT button will function as COMMERCIAL ADVANCE.
UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL UNITS
Although they will not have a Commercial Advance button, many programmable universal remotes such as the Logitech Harmony or Philips will control the main functions of your ReplayTV DVR. Please see the specific universal remote control manufacturer’s web site of the unit you are considering for more details and which functions may be programmed.

If you plan to use the following remote for a 2xxx, 3xxx or 4xxx model, please keep in mind that the replacement remote has an INPUT button; however, it will not perform that function. Under most installations, this will not pose a problem. However, if you record from a VCR or other device, where you need to switch inputs; you will not be able to switch inputs as the ReplayTV menus do not have an option to perform this task. If you are replacing a worn remote, you may want to consider keeping it for this situation.
