How can I tell how much space is reserved on my ReplayTV?
Solution

Previous versions of the ReplayTV report actual disk space for reserved recordings, while the latest software for the 5xxx models reports actual free disk space available.  This is because of the new disk management options where you are warned when a show may become deleted.  This occurs when less than four hours of available space remains.

If you want to identify how much reserved space is available, then peform the following.

  • Press REPLAYTV GUIDE
  • Select any CHANNEL from the left-handside
  • Press SELECT and choose CHANGE RECORD OPTIONS

Here you will note the available space for future recordings that have not been added to the queue.  Example: "57 h 14 m of reserved space available".

Whereas if you check the amount of space from the REPLAYTV GUIDE, you will indicate the amount of disk space actually used.  Example: "97 h 33 m free space at standard quality".

To free up some space for recordings, you can either change your recording options for individual channels or save your recordings to VCR or DVD.  For more information on the latter, see the following article.
